Boogie-oggie-oggie up in a Chinatown BASSment!

Hit up the weekly Sunday night Sweater Funk party once again last night. That shit is fun as hell.

Pretty much the interior looks like you are 17 years old and your best friend's parents went outta town and you through a boogie-funk party in their unfinished basement (that happens to be in the heart of Chinatown)!

So the vibe of the night is you get down to some cheezy/amazing boogie and dance your azz off! And if anyone tries to pull out the too-cool-card, you look at them and say listen trick, you are 17 and we're in your parents unfinished basement so you might as well get down to this S.O.S. Band I'm gettin' off to!

L.A. was reppin' the Sweater Funk hard last night. Afro Funke's Glenn Red and Jeremy Sole were showing some love for the boogie.

Glenn absolutely killed a short set of that mid-tempo magic!

I about lost it when he dropped this Edwin Birdsond on Salsoul!!!

Great times down there! Remember this goes down every Sunday night in the basement of Li-Po Lounge in the heart of Chinatown! Don't sleep on the boogie-oggie-oggie!!!

Next week a certain L.A. amBASSador of boogie-funk will be doing a surprise guest appearance. Not to ruin the surprise but his name rhymes with Dâm-Skunk!

OH AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!

SPLIFF SESSIONS IS TONIGHT!!!

COME GET YO'SELF A LITTLE SPLIFF SESSION IN YA!!!

SEE YOU SOON MY PEOPLES!!!

Just caught wind of your night, Funky Rewind, from the Wax Poetics email. I'm a regular contributer for the mag (most of the Brazil-related articles) and a recent transplant from Brooklyn, NYC. AFREAKA looks like a dope night too. I'll be sure to say what's up when I come by - Allen
